Scenic & Cultural Akita: Lake Tazawa and Kakunodate Samurai Experience

9:00 am — Disembarkation & Meet Your Driver/Guide Your private driver/guide will be waiting at the Akita cruise terminal. Board a comfortable vehicle and begin your Akita highlights journey.

9:00 am – 10:30 am — Drive to Lake Tazawa (approx. 90 min) Enjoy a scenic drive through Akita’s countryside and mountain landscapes. Your guide will share stories about local nature, folklore, and the legend of Princess Tatsuko.

10:30 am – 11:30 am — Lake Tazawa Exploration Visit Japan’s deepest lake, famous for its crystal-blue waters. Photo stops include:

Tatsuko Statue — symbol of beauty and eternal youth

Gozanoishi Shrine — a peaceful lakeside shrine Free time for photos and lakeside views.

11:30 am – 12:30 pm — Drive to Kakunodate (approx. 60 min)

12:30 pm – 2:00 pm — Kakunodate Samurai District Stroll through Kakunodate, often called the “Little Kyoto of Tohoku.” Explore preserved samurai residences and historic streets lined with black wooden fences:

Aoyagi Samurai House (armor, weapons, artifacts displays)
